I was in a car accident while pregnant and hired a personal injury lawyer. She hasn't done squat in the 11 months since I hired her. She would go months without replying to my emails.
She wanted to collect what was already offered to me before I hired her- she just wanted a free 35% of my settlement. And when I called her out on this, SHE terminated her representation of me.
Since she dropped my case, can she collect her 35% once I get my settlement? She hadn't even sent a demand package yet. I am not hiring another lawyer, and our contract was contingency based. I read my contract and it looks like all she can get is reimbursement for photocopies, faxes, etc., but I am not sure.
Any advice?
